Residential Furnace Installation Services Done Right From the Vent to the Thermostat

A furnace replacement looks like a straight swap until you get into the venting, the gas line and what current code actually requires. Get those wrong and you have a safety problem rather than a comfort one. MAC Heating and Cooling Inc has installed home furnaces since 2017, and we check every one of those before the old unit comes out.

Benefits of Our Residential Furnace Installation

We explain what a higher AFUE rating will and will not save you at local gas prices, so you can decide whether the upgrade pays back in your situation.

Combustion safety verified rather than assumed

We test combustion and check for carbon monoxide at startup instead of lighting the unit, feeling warm air and driving away.

Venting problems found during the estimate

Switching to a high efficiency furnace usually changes the venting entirely, and we identify that at quoting time so it appears in the price rather than as a mid job surprise.

Gas capacity checked before the equipment is ordered

A larger or additional appliance can exceed what the existing gas line and meter deliver, and we confirm that in advance rather than commissioning a furnace that starves under load.

Sized to your home, not to the old nameplate

Copying the capacity of the unit being removed just repeats whatever mistake was made last time, so we calculate the heating load fresh. on.

Our Services

Furnace work is one part of the full residential heating and cooling service we provide.

Complete central heating and cooling systems installed from the load calculation forward, with matched equipment, permitting and final verification testing.

Diagnosis and repair of heating and cooling faults, including no heat calls, with the repair priced in writing before we begin.

Design, installation and replacement of home duct systems. This matters for furnaces because restricted airflow is a leading cause of overheating and premature heat exchanger.

Whole home media filter cabinets and certified air cleaners built into the ductwork and sized so filtration does not starve the furnace of air.

Air source heat pumps that heat and cool from a single system, with electrical capacity and running costs reviewed honestly.

Single zone and multi zone ductless installation, repair and maintenance for additions, garages, ADUs and problem rooms.

What Is Residential Furnace Installation and What Does It Involve?

Residential furnace installation is the replacement or first time fitting of the appliance that heats a home by burning fuel, most commonly natural gas, and distributing the resulting warm air through ductwork. The furnace itself is one component in a system that has to work together safely. A full installation involves selecting equipment sized to the home’s heating load, setting and connecting the unit, confirming the gas line can supply the required volume, establishing proper combustion air, and building or adapting the venting.
The reason this work deserves care is that a furnace is the one piece of HVAC equipment that burns fuel inside your house. Everything protecting you from that sits in the details: intact venting, adequate combustion air, correct gas pressure and a heat exchanger that is not overheating because airflow is restricted. When those are wrong the failure mode is not discomfort, it is carbon monoxide. MAC Heating and Cooling Inc has been installing home furnaces since 2017. We verify venting, gas capacity and combustion air during the estimate rather than discovering problems with the old unit already on the driveway. Everything else we handle is listed on macheatingandcoolinginc.com.

Electric Furnace Installation and Replacement

For homes without a gas connection, or where running gas to the appliance is impractical, we install and replace electric furnaces and air handlers fitted with electric heat strips. The job is different from a gas change out because there is no venting or combustion air to build, but the electrical side becomes the constraint instead. We check panel capacity, breaker space and conductor sizing before quoting anything.
Electric resistance heat costs considerably more to run than gas at local rates, so we will tell you plainly where a heat pump would be a better use of the same electrical work. Where an electric furnace really is the right answer, we size it to the load rather than filling the circuit with capacity you will never call on. Pricing is itemized in writing, including any electrical upgrade the installation requires. Where a property is moving off gas entirely, a Heat Pump Installation usually makes better sense than an electric furnace.

Gas and Natural Gas Furnace Replacement

Most of the furnace work we do is replacing a unit that has reached the end of its life, usually somewhere between fifteen and twenty years old. We remove the old appliance, adapt or rebuild the plenum connections, set and level the new unit, and make the gas, electrical and vent connections to current code. The old equipment and the packaging leave with us rather than staying in your garage.
We quote from a fresh heating load calculation rather than from the nameplate on the unit coming out, and we will put two or three equipment options in front of you at different efficiency and staging levels. The permit, the venting work and the gas connections are written into the price from the start. Most straightforward change outs are completed in a single day.

Venting, Gas Line and Condensate Work Handled In House

The parts of a furnace installation that sit outside the appliance are the parts most often subcontracted, delayed or quietly left off the quote. We handle them ourselves: vent routing and sidewall terminations, combustion air supply, gas line alterations and sizing, condensate drainage, neutralizers, and pumps where gravity will not do the job. One crew, one schedule, one point of responsibility.
That matters commercially as much as practically, because it means the figure on your quote is the figure for a finished installation rather than the equipment with everything else still to come. We survey the vent route, the gas run and the drain path during the estimate visit. Anything that needs rebuilding is priced then, in writing, before you commit to the work. Undersized or leaking runs get picked up here too, which is where Ductwork Installation comes into the job.

Emergency No Heat Furnace Replacement and Winter Scheduling

When a furnace fails outright in the middle of winter the priority is restoring heat, not exploring options, and we schedule those calls ahead of planned work. We will tell you honestly whether the unit can be repaired to see out the season or whether replacement is the only sensible route. A cold house is not something we use as leverage for a larger sale.
Where a full replacement cannot happen the same day because venting or permitting needs attention, we will look at safe temporary heating so you are not left waiting without any. Planned replacements booked outside the heating season move faster and give you time to compare equipment properly. Call early and we will usually have an assessment scheduled within a few days. Tell us how old the unit is through Contact Us and we will tell you whether it is worth replacing now.

FAQ's

Can I replace my 80 percent AFUE furnace with the same thing?

In most California climate zones, no. The current energy code sets a minimum around 92 percent AFUE for residential furnace replacements, which means an 80 percent unit generally cannot be permitted. That is why the replacement is rarely a like for like swap. The higher efficiency furnace needs different venting and condensate drainage, so the project scope grows beyond the appliance itself. Any quote that prices an 80 percent unit for a permitted replacement is worth questioning closely.
It will reduce gas consumption, and the size of the saving is easy to estimate. Moving from an 80 percent to a 95 percent furnace cuts roughly 15 percent of the fuel you burn for heating, so the annual saving depends on how much you currently spend on heating rather than on your total bill. In a mild climate with a modest heating season, that saving is real but takes time to offset the additional venting work. We will run the numbers against your usage instead of quoting a generic payback period.
It depends on what bothers you about your current heating. Single stage furnaces run at full output and shut off, which produces temperature swings and blasts of hot air. Two stage and variable speed units run longer at lower output, holding temperatures more evenly and running more quietly, and the variable speed blower is gentler on filters and ductwork. If your complaint is uneven rooms or noise, the upgrade addresses it directly. If you simply want reliable heat at the lowest purchase price, a good single stage unit is not a bad decision.

Given the 2029 zero NOx rule, does it still make sense to install a gas furnace now?

For many homes, yes. A gas furnace installed today is fully permitted and can run its normal service life of roughly 15 to 20 years. The rule applies to new installations from its compliance date rather than forcing existing equipment out. The question worth thinking through is what you will want when this furnace eventually fails, and whether preparing your electrical panel now makes a future conversion easier. We will talk through both paths rather than pushing you toward the larger sale.
Most manufacturers require documented annual professional maintenance and proof of registration within a set window after installation, often 60 to 90 days. Skipping either can reduce or void parts coverage, and homeowners usually discover this at the worst possible moment. Beyond the paperwork, the maintenance that actually matters is keeping filters clean, since restricted airflow causes overheating and is the most common contributor to premature heat exchanger failure. We register the equipment for you and explain what your specific warranty requires.

Planning a Furnace Replacement Before Winter?

The best time to replace a furnace is before it fails, when you can compare options instead of accepting whatever is available at short notice. We will assess the venting, the gas supply and the heating load, then give you a written price with the full scope included.
